You can play Coup online without a box, a table, or a rulebook. Commune Coup puts the bluffing card game on your phone, so a round is as close as your next spare five minutes. This is the quick start: what you need, how to join a game, and how to avoid losing both cards by turn three.
What you need to play Coup online
A phone and at least one opponent, human or not. A game seats two to six players, and games run five to ten minutes. There is no account to create and no email to hand over. You open the app, pick a display name, and sit down.

Three ways to start a game
- Create a private room. You get a six-character code and an invite link. Send either one to friends and they join your table.
- Join a public game. Browse the open tables and jump into one in seconds, no code needed.
- Fill seats with bots. Short a player? Bots take the empty chairs across three difficulty levels, and the hardest ones count cards and bluff on purpose.
How a turn works, in thirty seconds
Each player holds two hidden roles. On your turn you take one action. Some need no role at all, like taking a single coin. Others, like taxing as the Duke or assassinating, require you to claim a role. You do not need the card. You need the nerve.
Anyone can challenge your claim. If you were lying, you lose a card. If you were telling the truth, the challenger does. Lose both cards and you are out, and the last player with influence wins.
Your first online game
Keep it simple. Take income when you are unsure, claim the Duke early because few people challenge it, and watch the coin counts. Anyone close to seven coins is about to launch a coup, and a coup cannot be blocked.
